Our Grandparents and Grandfriends Celebration was a huge success. I was amazed at how many guests we had to show up! The students were excited and did a fabulous job. I had "escorts" meet our special guests in the office and show them to our room. They used their best manners and made pleasant conversation with our GRAND guests!
This was our "Welcome" table. We made each Grandparent or Grandfriend their own keepsake to take home with them. Their special names were on a ribbon hanging on the wall. They had coffee and doughnuts for snack.
Did you think I would let them leave without getting a picture? :)
All of the students wrote a poem for their Grandparent or Grandfriend. They were displayed on our writing wall and students read them aloud. They also wrote a friendly letter! While they were at lunch, I took down this display and the one in the hallway and made a neat little gift for the grandparents to take home. I folded this poem and placed it with their letter (which was in an envelope I made to match their names on the their ribbons) and attached it all together!
I think the most fun was when our Grandparents and Grandfriends played a competitive game of Around the World with multiplication! Wow. . . they had a blast! I had a room full of giggling grand people! :)
